I am proud to say the Moms On The Go Trade Show and Silent Auction last weekend raised $1700.00 for breast cancer research:) I would like to thank all the businesses that donated to the silent auctions, the people who came out to the event and all the wonderful volunteers from the Weekend To End Breast Cancer! A Special thanks to Jill who led all the volunteers and who is currently training to walk the 60 km walk for breast cancer in Edmonton. In order to do the walk she needs to raise $2000.00 she is currently sitting at $1850.00 another $150.00 to go. If you are interested in donating to help her walk you can do so at the following link http://www.endcancer.ca/site/TR?px=2926601&pg=personal&fr_id=1322&s_src=boundlessfundraising, Remember every dollar counts and anything over $10.00 qualifies for a tax receipt:)

Mama Goddess Birth Shop

Today, I came across the best site for home births I have ever seen. It is called Mama Goddess Birth Shop and has everything from home birthing, hospital birthing and even water birthing. Supplies for parents, midwives and doulas. Gifts for mom, baby and siblings and even some great things for after birth, breast feeding, loss of a child or trying to conceive.
Here are a couple of my faves from the site:

Sibling Prep-Nature Bag

Inside these organic cotton, fairtrade naturebag, you will find…...
1-all season activity booklet
2-leaf viewers
8-colour cards1-recycled notepad
1-recycled pencil
1-package of soy based crayons
1-small roll of hemp twine
1-organic cotton blindfold
1-rubberwood magnifying glass

They suggest using this great educational outdoor activity as a way for parents, grandparents or friends to bond with the older child, after the baby is born to prevent a child from feeling left out.

La Bassine Water Birth Pool, I really like this birthing pool because it comes with built in handles to help with position changes and to help with pushing. It is designed to be deep enough to cover your belly but not deep enough to be uncomfortable.

If you are pregnant or trying to conceive make sure to check this site out.

Mommy Hook

The other week I met with a mom from our Central Alberta Mommy Forum and noticed she had this really cool thing. A Mommy Hook, it is such a simple invention, but let me tell you it caught my interest. This mom was using hers to carry her Walmart Shopping bags, it was so simple but freed her hands for other things. So, me being the crazy online shopper, looked it up online and low and behold one of my fave stores carry it. You can get your Mommy Hook from Cater Tots for $8.99 CDN. They suggest using it for carrying diaper bags, shopping bags, camera bags, purses etc. It is made of heavy- duty aluminum so it won't break and has a unique rubber grip to keep it from sliding:)

Teacher gift/ Craft Idea

What are your kids giving their teachers for an end of the year Thank You gift?

I wasn't sure until now. I couldn't come up with an idea that wouldn't cost me a fortune considering my son has 5 teachers in his pre- K  class. Then I came across a website called Happy Mail for kids. It is a personalised mailing business, that sends mail to kids.

What's Included in a mail kit?
  • personalized letter
  • lots of fun stickers
  • an easy to make craft
  • recipes for busy families
  • a message from You
  • and more!

On their site they have a bunch of cool craft ideas for kids. One of the crafts was a coffee mug full of cookies.Basically you get a plain white coffee mug from the dollar store, let your kids paint it with craft paint, fill with some yummy home made cookies. Wrap in clear plastic and tie a bow around it. Done. A cute Thank You gift for under $5.00

C is for Cancer

"C" is for Cancer is written from Kai's perspective. Kai is 4 years old and is currently undergoing Leukemia treatment. He was diagnosed on December 25th, 2007 and he is currently in a maintenance phase of treatment that will continue through 2011. Raspberry Kids is currently selling C is for Cancer and  donating all of the proceeds directly back to Denise ( the author) and her family to manage whether it be for new toys for the facility that is for Kai and other immune compromised children or to help fund the printing and distribution of future copies of her book.

Beautiful colors

These cool chairs and love seats are called The Cubino by The Monte Design Group. Aren't they cool? They are made of thick, durable foam and are covered with soft durable micro suede. Best yet they have machine washable covers that are water repellent and stain resistant. This great kids furniture is hand made in Canada and recommended for ages 18m- 7 yrs.

You can buy these awesome pieces from The Funky Monkey online.

These are a must have

I found a couple cool clothing accessories for kids. Both are available at Cater Tot's in Airdrie, Alberta or on Cater Tot's website http://catertot.ca/home.php

The first is, The Dapper Snapper, basically it is two simple straps that attach to the back of a child's pants or shorts and tightens them up. These are especially great and even better then a belt because it won't affect quick trips to the bathroom. Isn't that great! They retail for $14.99

The Second is The i Play Snap N' Garment Extenders. It is a simple idea it just snaps on to a child's onesie and makes it larger, extending the life of the shirt. Great idea for those fave shirts, you hate to give away so fast. They come in a pack of three and are only available in white. These retail for $10.99

Cowboy Up!

Check these out, they are soft soled baby shoes that look like cowboy boots. You can buy them at one of my favorite stores of all time Cater Tots in Airdrie, Alberta or on their website http://catertot.ca/home.php.
The boots themselves are from a company called Heelarious and retail for approx $40.00.These are sure going to be a hit, when the Calgary Stampede comes to town:)
